The White Sox had an epic collapse the other night vs. the Toronto Blue jays, however here at Chicago Sports Daily, we always aim our focus on the positive. The White Sox, while sometimes overshadowed by their crosstown rivals, have a stellar group of prospects. Below, I rank the top five prospects the White Sox have to offer.
#5 - Francellis Montas - RHP
This 21 year old prospect shows "very high upside potential with very little downside risk (to quote Wolf of Wall street)" Throwing for a 1.60 ERA with 56/14 K/BB in 62 innings in High-A, this prospect promises to deliver at the relieving position. On the contrary, this kids 2014 season was cut short due to knee injuries.
#4 - Micah Johnson - 2B
This 24 year old prospect sneaks onto the list solely due to his hitting potential. His numbers show a strong average of 329/.414/.466 in 146 at-bats in Double-A, and .275/.314/.370 in 273 at-bats in Triple-A. These numbers all coming from a second baseman is super impressive.
#3 - Tim Anderson - SS
The strongest hitter of the list comes in at the number 3 spot. The 21 year old took 83 games to throw up an average of .301/.327/.481. Anderson is not only the best hitter on the list, he is also the quickest on the list, stealing 34 bases in 42 attempts. Look for big things in the future from this kid
#2 - Tyler Danish - RHP
No surprises here... This kid, similar to Montas, lacks the flaws possessed by the number 5 spot. Throwing an impressive 2.08 ERA, this kid will be sure to impress. Look for much improvement from him. Potentially enough to move him to the number one spot.
#1 - Carlos Rodon - LHP
Clearly the best pitcher on this list, the 22 year old hot arm has so much to offer. Throwing a 2.92 ERA with 38/13 K/BB in 25 innings, this kid has room to improve, but potential wise this kid triumphs the best of them. Rodon may be the next Chris Sale... or he may be the next big let down. Keep an eye on this one.
