This is the year isn’t it?! Cutler is finally going to stop being Jay Cutler, the defense is going to shore up, and our highly touted No. 7 pick overall Kevin White is going to polarize the NFL like he did the NCAA, right?! Of COURSE not. This is the Chicago Bears we are talking about guys. Lets be real.
First I’ll quote a headline I saw in the newspaper the other day: “Expecting a lousy season? You won’t be dissapointed”. Not sure if they were referring to Cutler geting sacked on the first series, the defense losing the battle to the Dolphins’ reserves, or our first rounder Kevin White likely out for the season. For weeks word coming from Bourbonnais was that White had shin splints and was on the PUP (physically unable to play) list for cardio endurance reasons. After getting back onto the field (or so we were told) and the pain returning, an X-Ray revealed a stress fracture in the WR’s tibia (shin). White said of admitting the pain returned: “Like throwing in the towel”.
As Bears’ fans, this sucks for us. But as Bears’ fans, we always know there is always something worse. I would like to raise a bigger issue. Ryan Pace and the new regime can’t be trusted. Of many lies to the fan base, I would like to point out the most obvious: John Fox addressing Kevin White’s injury. When asked about said shin splints, Fox said “That’s really it. It’s not like we’re hiding some horrible injury”. Correct me if I’m wrong, but a season ender seems pretty horrible to me. We’ll see how the trust topic unfolds before Week One, and I will report back.
Oh, and Alshon’s injured too. Fantasy Football here I come!
