First of all, for all of you that have seen PED in the headlines of news stories and don’t know what they are, they are performance-enhancing drugs. Alshon Jeffery, the Chicago Bears wide receiver has been accused and suspended for taking PEDs. Jeffery is suspended for four games. Now the bears are bad, but Alshon Jeffery was the last sliver of hope with the team because he is a very skilled wide receiver. Jeffery will not only be suspended but suspended without pay. Now the Bears have said that as soon as he is
eligible, he will be back with the team so there is no need to worry. After all, the 2-7 Bears have shown no reason why they could win the Super Bowl this year, so the loss of Jeffery won’t have that big of an effect on the Bears. Jeffery wrote, "Unfortunately, this supplement contained an ingredient that was on the NFL's banned substance list."
I take full responsibility and I'm deeply upset with myself for not doing the proper research on this supplement. I want to apologize to my family, the Bears organization, my teammates, and Bears fans. I will work hard to earn back the respect and trust of the Bears nation and look forward to being back on the field." The Bears will miss Jeffery as well as all of his fantasy football owners too.
Jeffery was averaging 12.5 points per week in PPR leagues. In leagues with 10+ teams, he could see your lineup. Tight end Zach Miller said. "It sucks not having your top weapon on offense. We have to figure out ways to do better collectively. But I don't think you really replace Alshon Jeffery that easily." Jeffery will be missed be all his teammates as well as the team. Jeffery’s 4 payless games although may not seem that bad on the surface, but he is losing about 3.6 million dollars from those 4 games. The average NFL player makes 2.1 million dollars per year and the average income for an American is 52,000 dollars. Jeffrey may not care that much making 14.6 million per year. He should be able to live off of the 11 million dollars he will still be paid. So far this season Jeffery has a team-high 630 yards on 40 catches in nine games this season but has the only season the end zone once. With Jeffery out Eddie Royal will likely be bumped up to WR1. We will see more of a workload pushed onto Royal as well as tight end Zach Miller and likely running back Ka'Deem Carey with Jordan Howard suffering from an Achilles injury.
