In this article I would like to compare the Chicago Cubs’ Anthony Rizzo to the Hawks’ Jonathan Toews. Both outspoken leaders, both overshadowed by flashier headline makers, and both the beating heart of their respective organizations. These 2 players do the dirty work for their teams while others get all of the credit. Read more below.
When you think of the Cubs (14 of their last 16 by the way), you might think of the next big thing Kris Bryant, troubled Starlin Castro, or superbat Kyle Schwarber. But make no mistake, Anthony Rizzo is the best ballplayer in the clubhouse. You probably didn’t know that he leads the Cubbies in batting average, homers, and RBIs.
When you think of the Blackhawks (3 Cups in their last 6 years by the way), you might think of “Showtime” Patrick Kane, young stud Brandon Saad (god rest his soul), or colorful personality Andrew Shaw. But Toews wears the “C” for a reason. The winner of the Mark Messier Leadership Award for the ump-teenth time in a row, I think you see my point.
Anyways, just wanted to raise the comparison, we should be grateful for both.
