Pitcher Donn Roach made his major league debut tonight against the Cardinals, and long story short… it didn’t go well. Roach was pulled midway through the fourth, after letting up four runs on eight hits. The Iowa prospect was starting tonight solely because the Cubs were hoping for a pitching spark, after the rest of the lineup had failed. Boy did that not pan out as expected.
The mound is already short handed, as Tsuyoshi Wada injured his shoulder Tuesday night. The Cubbies pitching mound now consists only of a few starters that have proven to deliver wins on a consistent basis.
Changes will be needed atop the mound in Wrigley, or these few recent losses will be the start of a playoff ending trend.
