Bold Predictions for Cubs NLCS

As you all know, the Cubs are taking on the Mets in the NLCS. The Cubs and the Mets have met in the playoffs before but it was tragic for the Cubs. A black cat passed the Cubs dugout and if a black cat crosses your path it is known as bad luck. After that the Cubs blew up and lost the series. Hopefully, the Cubs will avenge that this year and advance on to the World Series. Some ways I think that the Cubs will advance onto the world series is possible but some of you will think I am crazy.

First, I think the Cubs will sweep the series. The Mets have a very talented pitching roster. Including, Matt Harvey, Jacob DeGrom, Noah Syndergaard, and Steven Matz. I think these pitchers are all very beatable. The Cubs have beaten the Cardinals top 3 pitchers and Gerrit Cole so far this series, so why can’t they beat the Mets pitchers. The Cardinals have more experienced and more talented pitchers and if we beat them we can for sure beat the Mets pitchers. The Cubs bats have been outstanding this postseason and I think no pitcher can stop them. Also, the Cubs pitching staff is amazing. They have Jon Lester, Jake Arrieta, Kyle Hendricks, and if needed Jason Hammel. All of those pitchers are capable of holding the mets to 3 or less runs. If the bats stay alive and the pitchers stay on their game, there is no problem for the Cubs this series.

I also believe the Cubs will score 20+ runs this series. The Cubs have been hot this postseason and it has all been because of their hitting. The Cubs have scored 24 runs this postseason and have only played 5 games! And one of them was a shutout! That is basically 24 runs in 4 games! I said earlier that the Cubs will sweep this series so that is why I said 20+. If the series is only 4 games then I think the Cubs will score 20-22 runs. If the series goes all the way to 7 games, you better watch out because I think the Cubs will be able to score about 37 runs. Yes, I think the Cubs will average just over 5 runs per game this series. Hopefully, the Cubs pitchers will hold off the mets to under 5 runs so that they will be able to sweep the series. Expect this series to be a fun series to watch, and expect a lot of runs from the Cubs.

Lastly, I think that Jon Lester will have at least one shutout this series. I want to say that he will have two shutouts but, I can not predict if he will even get two starts. Lester has been a disappointment this season. We signed Lester to a 6 year 155 million dollar contract and has not lived up to it at all. However, we signed him significantly for the playoffs. Obviously we wanted him for the regular season too but he did not play well during that, so this is his time to shine. Lester has a 2.66 postseason era and is even better later deeper in the postseason. Lester has started three world series games and has only allowed one run. That one run came on a bad pitch and the ball finished as a home run ball. The Conference series’ haven’t been amazing for Lester but they have been solid. Lester has started 6 Conference series games and has let up 12 runs. That is an average of 2 runs per start which is just what we need this year. Lester has never pitched a shutout in the Conference Series however, I know this is the year for him. This year has been the year for the Cubs and Lester will help out with that by getting at least one shutout.

First pitch is at 7:07 central time tonight. Tune in to TBS to watch the game. I know this will be a fun one to watch. GO CUBS GO! FLY THE W!
