Taj missed 20 games last season, and 17 of them were due to left ankle complications. Gibson’s agent said “the surgery went very well and after the rehab is over, it should feel like he has a new ankle.”
Taj has time after time provided a spark off the bench when needed, and even has chipped in with starters minutes in the absence of other players. He is a dominant force in the paint and most likely would be starting on any NBA team that doesn’t have Joakim Noah and Pau Gasol down low.
Taj’s name has come up in trade rumors since the Bull’s early playoff exit. The issue now is his health and his contract. He still has two years and about $16 million dollars, but before a team would want to make a move they will want to see his current health status. So right now, all signs point to Taj staying put.
Gibson is key to a deep Bulls playoff run, (assuming he is here) so him getting healthy is a must. Stay posted as we continue to update on Taj’s health.
