It’s no secret that the Blackhawks are stacked, heck they even come in with the best ratings in EA Sports’ NHL 15 (92/100). Line after line, assault after assault, the Blackhawks won’t let opponents catch their breath. Led by high powered scoring threats Jonathan Toews and Patrick Kane, the Hawks threw up the NHL third best 3.29 goals per game. The Hawks are only trailing that category to Nashville and Anaheim; both of which we BEAT in the playoffs. On D, the Hawks are led by two-time James Norris Trophy (best NHL defender) winner Duncan Keith and top checker Brent Seabrook. Deeper in the lineup the Hawks have a perfect contrast of youth and experience.
The Blackhawks have an average team age of 27.7 years (24.5 if you don’t count Brad Richards). Possessing key role players like Saad, Shaw, Teräväinen, and Kruger, the Hawks have quite the future ahead of them. Not to mention, Kane is 26, Toews is 27, and Crawford is 30.
Take a moment to pat yourself on the back. You are a member of the best fans in America, and it’s not even a close call. Holding a streak of well over 300 games, the Blackhawks have sold out every home game in the last 7 years. I repeat, the Blackhawks have sold out every home game IN THE LAST 7 YEARS. If that didn’t make your jaw drop… just wait. The Hawks fill 110% of the United Center. Not only do they sell out, but about 3,000 people buy tickets to just stand in the back and watch. It has been that way for 7 years. Oh and not to mention, we also outsell our opponents when were on the road. Yes, we have home ice advantage even when we're not home.
Coach Q is a legend. End of story. Headed into the Cup with well over 750 career wins, Q is arguably the best coach in Chicago sports history (love you too, Phil Jackson and Mike Ditka). This season, the Blackhawks were 32-0-0 when leading after two periods. That unconventionally good record is due all in part to our coach and his systems.
Don’t you just love the Blackhawk on the front of the jersey? So do I, and so does everyone else in hockey. The Hawks’ brand is fresh, cool, and unique; Unchallenged by anyone in the NHL.
This week the Hawks are headed into battle with the Tampa Bay Lightning; the winner to receive Lord Stanley's Cup. The Lightning bring a quick, powerful offense, with a decent defence. While the Hawks have had their share of success, they will be challenged in this series, but like usual, they will prevail. LET’S GO HAWKS.
