In my own personal opinion, I think Kane is innocent, let me explain why. Not in any way shape or form am I blaming the victim for the unlawful act that took place, rather I am simply taking a glance back in history to similar scenarios. In respects to other athletes accused of rape, (Ben Roethlisberger, Kobe Bryant, Mike Tyson... Just to name a few) there are three different paths the situation can go down. In Big Ben's scenario, he was accused, he hired a lawyer, brought it to court, and won... case closed. In Mike Tyson's predicament, he hired a lawyer, brought it to court, and lost... nearly career destroying. In Kobe's situation, he communicated with the woman, agreed on a settlement and the woman was never heard from again. This lead me to believe that Kobe was guilty by the way he evaded the judicial system. Patrick Kane has narrowed this down to two options... Guilty or Innocent as determined by the court. May I add that Mike Tyson's scenario is rare and the only one I can think of where an athlete brought the case to court and was proven guilty. Which leads me to believe that Patrick Kane hiring a lawyer is reason enough for me to trust his innocence until proven otherwise. While I could be wrong, and I hope that I am not, he is in a crunch and I hope all is well at the end of the day, and that he will be suited up for the first game come October.
