You all know Kyle Fuller. You all cursed Phil Emery when he drafted him instead of Darqueze Dennard or Haha Clinton-Dix. You loved him with his 2 picks against the Niners. You cried when you saw him placed on IR. But did you catch Brock Vereen in his rookie season? Did you know “The Hulk” sixth round safety out of Penn State Adrian Amos? Probably not. The two lesser known guys, Amos and Vereen, are actually monsters of you go to the tape. As a Nittany Lion, Amos was an absolute ball hawk. He is rangy and just as good a run stuffer as he is a cover man. His stats weren’t spectacular because he wasn’t thrown at very much, which speaks to his talent. Vereen, former 4th rounder out of Minnesota, definetly had his growing pains as a rookie. The Golden Gopher had one pick on the season but was mostly known for being in the wrong places at times. A surprise starter of Chicago’s first preseason game, Vereen is a rising contributor of a struggling defense.
While it is far from a sure bet, the future of the Bears’ secondary looks bright.
